It's really just another day for Ben (Jayvon Davis), liquor store
clerk, navigating his way between crazy customers, his chronically late
colleague (Sean Nguyen), stoners (Helene Minassian), underaged kids
(Justin Zheng) and a criminally inept robber (Ian Bourn) - so what else is
new? The premise of this film, a day in the life of a liquor
store clerk, doesn't promise much, but filmmaker David Yama sure makes the
most out of it, feeding what's basically a slice-of-life story with plenty
of humour while keeping things grounded enough to keep them believable and
really relatable. And a subtle directorial effort as well as a solid cast
sure help to make this one very entertaining short.
