Debbie (Connie Hoffman), a disillusioned girl from Kansas, decides to become
a stewardess, just to escape the life she had, & soon she moves in with 3
other stewardesses, Barbara (Marilyn Joy), Janet (Sydney Jordan) & Margie
(Donna Young), but at first, she, the country gal, is shocked ba the sexual
shenanigans of her roommates. Soon though she becomes quite friendly with an
elderly passenger, Brewster (b-Western veteran Bob Livingston), who saves
another passenger's life, & whom she comes to trust ... even though, when
he invites her home, he shows no reservations to sneak to the next room to
secretly shag another woman. Not much later, Debbie meets Cal (Richard
Smedley), a wannabe-photographer waiting for his big break, & he persuades
her to be his model ... however she has to persuade him to be
photographed in the nude as well. When she afterwards tries to get intimate
with him, he refuses to respond accordingly. A few days later, Debbie takes
Cal to a party at Brewster's place, where he feels greatly displaced & is
struck by extreme jealousy ... however he does get a job as porn-photographer
from Barbara's boyfriend Ev (Al Richardson). (As it turns out, Cal had every
right to be jealous, as that night, Debbie has sex with Brewster.) At the
porn-shoot, Cal persuades Ev to help him get even with Debbie by cruelly
ripping off Brewster ... which means that the 2 of them kidnap Debbie, along
with Barbara & Janet & hold them for ransom, to be paid by Brewster
(who has since gotten intimate with Margie). While waiting for Brewster to
pay up, it becomes clear that Cal is impotent, & he saw his only chance to get it up
again in
Debbie, so jealousy made him to do the stupidest of things
(the kidnapping), but not only that, he even rapes Debbie (obviously she was
his only chance) & then wants to call off the whole thing ... much to the
dismay of Ev, who is in it or the money. The 2 duke it out, with Cal eventually
coming out victorious, but by now Brewster has come, & Brewster wouldn't be
Bob Livingston wouldn't he try to solve matters with a gun, so Cal soon catches
a bullet. The girls are saved, but Debbie still misses any real direction in
her life, so her direction might be where the next plane would take her. A
clumsy mixture of sexploitation, comedy, drama & crime movie, that really
can't decide which way to go, so on a quality level, it's probably pretty bad.
It is however at the same time a nostalgic & amusing (if overlong) piece of
1970's erotica, & director Adamson's rather blunt direction only
contributes to that.
