Mr. Bricks is by no means a valuable member of society, he's a criminal and murderer who has done his time in jail, and when he has come out he was anything but a changed man. But even someone as bad as Mr. Bricks can fall in love eventually - with Scarlet (Nicola Fiore), the only human being Mr. Bricks has feelings for. Too bad then that she has been kidnapped. And now Mr. Bricks is going to reclaim her, and not even bullets can stop him ...

This story is only half-true though, Scarlet has never been his lover but a woman he has kidnapped - but he has fallen for her in captivity ... and raped her to show his affection. And the man who has taken her from him is Dukes (Vito Trigo), her very partner - because you know, Scarlet is a cop, and she was actually supposed to be bait for Mr. Bricks, and the reason that this hasn't worked out the way it should was that Dukes is a crooked cop - but just like Mr. Bricks, Dukes has fallen for Scarlet ...

Eventually, Scarlet finds out she has gotten pregnant from Mr. Bricks, and she wants to meet him one last time for payback time. Dukes finds out where the two are going to meet, so he decides to join the party ... a party that not everyone will leave alive!

As hinted at in the title, Mr. Bricks: A Heavy Metal Murder Musical is a musical - where the characters actually do break out into songs every now and again, and yes, of the heavy metal variety (but other than the pathetic Rock of Ages we're talking hardcore metal here). A recipe for disaster? Maybe, but this film gets it right because it tells a story that lives up to the violent impact of its music, a story full of violence and murder, from the underbelly of society, that's dirty enough and blunt enough to mirror the feelings transmitted in the music. On a directorial level, the movie sometimes (during the songs mostly) resembles a music video - from a time when music videos still had something to say -, but mostly the film has cleverly applied grindhouse vibe to it, withoutbeing just revisionist. And acting-wise especially Tim Dax and Nicola Fiore nail their respective roles (even if Ms Fiore is a little weak in the singing department).

Now all that said, you better at least like hardcore heavy metal to like this film, since the music is pretty much everywhere, but if you do, you really shouldn't miss this one!
