Yukidaijo (Bin Amatsu), a nobleman hungry for the throne, has the king
& his family killed in cold blood by his commander Orochimaru (Ryutaro
Omoto), all but the kind's son Ikasakimaru, who manages to escape in a
boat, so Orochimaru turns into a giant dragon to kill him, but the boy is
saved by a giant bird.
Years later, the boy has grown into a young man (& is now played by
Hiroki Matsukata), & has been taught wll by his old sensei in martial
arts, swordfighting & of course magic, when Orochimaru turns up at the
sensei's doorstep (who of course turns out to be Orochimaru's former
teacher as well) & kills the old man when he is reluctant to give up
Ikasakimaru ...
Ikasakimaru meanwhile has been out in thec woods & has run across
& killed Orochimaru's ninjas as well as a girl, Sunate (Tomoko Ogawa)
looking for her father who has once lived in the woods - yes, eventually
her father will turn out to be Orochimaru - & the 2 promptly fall in
love with each other.
Returning to his master though, Ikasakimaru finds him dieing, & he
has just enough strength in him to tell Ikasakimaru everything about how
his parents died by the hands of Orochimaru but ordered by Yukidaijo,
& that Orochimaru has also killed him ... & from now on
Ikasakimaru is bent on revenge, & he & Sunate part ways to find
his parents killer & her father respectively, ignorant to the fact
that they are aftter the same man ...
Always under attack from Orochimaru's ninjas (who at one instance take
the form of wooden doors), Ikasakimaru fights his way to the capital,
where he finlly meets Sunate again, whose search for her father has
(naturally) led her here as well, but she had been told by her father
Orochimaru (whom she has found in the meantime) to kill Ikasakimaru, which
she, as a loyal daughter, deems the right thing to do, it's just ... she
can't, because she has fallen in love with him - & when she hears
Ikasakimaru's side of the story she figures her father might not be all
that great a man ...
Soon, Ikasakimaru has fought his way into the king's palace & kills
the king & all his guards ... when Orochimaru shows up & actually
thanks Ikasakimaru, as he is bent on becoming the new king - but
Ikasaqkimaru challanges him to a duel, & to that end turns into a
giant toad, upon which Orochimaru turns into the dragon again & the 2
fight & in the process lay the whole king's palace to waste ...
But the fight is only ended when Sunate, with the help of her
grandmother's amulet, turns into a giant spider, helps Ikasakimaru defeat
her father Orochimaru, & once more the kingdom is saved.
Ikasakimarzu though, the rightful king, renounces the throne &
instead retreats to the woods with Sunate to lead a simple life ...
A childish mix of martial arts- & fantasy-motives that, amidst its
cheesy plot, has its moments of (trashy) greatness though, like
Ikasakimaru's fight against wooden doors, or Ikasakiimaru destroying the
king's palace in the form of a toad ... scenes ghat just have to be seen
to be believed.
