After partying too hard and overdosing as a consequence, college girl
Rachel (Savanah Joeckel) has been sent back from Argentina to her native
USA, but she has since cleaned up her act and returned to Argentina as a
freelance journalist - and pretty much the first thing she does is joining
up with her best friends Dani (Laura Casale) and Skyler (Marlene Pederson
Chauviere) to party with Skyler's friend Pedro (Tony Garza). But
something's different than before, while Skyler still is the party girl of
old, Dani has turned into a recluse who wants to leave only minutes after
they've gotten to the club, alerting Rachel tat something isn't quite
right. And really, when she talks To Dani she tells her that she has been
raped by Pedro, something Skyler has known prior to bringing them to the
club to meet him. Rachel is so enraged by that that she gives Skyler a
serious talk and breaks off her friendship with her. Skyler's heartbroken
... and isn't to be seen again, and neither is Pedro. Rachel of course
soon regrets having been that mean to Skyler, and she, Dani and Dani's
brother Francisco (Tom CL) do their best to find her - unsuccessfully -,
and they soon figure Pedro must have drugged and kidnapped her and done
who knows what with her, and when his car is found abandoned a few days
later with her blood smeared over the car doors, they know something bad
must have happened- But the more Rachel tries to find out the truth, the
more things don't add up, to the point where she suspects Dani and
Francisco might be involved in her disappearance - but despite all her
efforts, the best she can do is to guess the actual truth that might be
something sompletely different ... A pretty engaging little thriller
that mixes tried and true whodunnit movies with modern themes like male
toxicity and sets the whole thing in the drug-drenched party world to tell
a well thought through story in an atmosphere-heavy way, with all
the suspence in all the right places but also plenty of red-herrings to
keep one guessing. And with a grounded cast in relatable roles, this has
become pretty cool genre entertainment.
