Bandy Bishop (Emmett Lynn) is fired from his job as foreman of the
Circle H ranch after trumped up charges that he has stolen the ranch's
payroll, and only a short time later, the ranch is up for sale, curtesy of
new foreman Red Devers (Norman Willis). The Lone Ranger (Clayton Moore)
and Tonto (Jay Silverheels) smell something fishy and hook up with Basnty
to get the lowdown, then the Ranger dresses up as the agent for a
potential buyer and finds Bob Kittredge (DeForest Kelley), the owner of
the Circle H, badly beaten up and rather obviously held prisoner on his
own ranch by Devers. So the ranger in disguise announces the visit of a
masked man - the ranger himself in his usual outfit of course - whom he
claims to be the actual buyer. Then he has Banty collect the farm hands
who have been fired from the Circle H lately as reinforcements and in no
time at all, he, Tonto and the Legion of Old Timers have overcome
Devers and his gang, freed Bob Kittredge, and as a thank you, Banty and
all the farmhands get their old jobs back. Entertaining episode
of The Lone Ranger that skillfully mixes action and humour
and - running no more than 25 minutes - it's just short enough to remain
entertaining throughout without the narrative seeming stressed.
