Linda LeThorn (Aundrea Fares), a moderately successful dogwalker,
spends her life between her job, her cat who very catlike has long chosen
to ignore her, her musicbox she thinks might be possessed by her deceased
aunt, and all the skin diseases she thinks she has. She has no social life
and thinks it is because of her skin condition, so she runs a self-help
group ... where she actually meets Geraldine (Ashley Peoples), a woman she
might not fall in love but at least in like with - but nothing's just
straigt-forward in her life ... Truth to be told, above is a
interpretation of Linda LeThorn and the Musicbox rather than an
actual synopsis as the film prefers to remain vague in regards to actual
storytelling ... and in this case it's a good thing as writer/director Meg
Skaff knows how to deal with this vagueness by ways of absurdity and
surrealism, knows how to get its fair share of comedy out of it, and how
to support everything by just the right imagery and cinematic language -
which is all helped by deliberately off-center performances as well of
course. Basically, the less you try to understand Linda LeThorn and
the Musicbox intellectually, the better you'll understand it on an
emotional level ... and the more you'll quite simply enjoy it, as it's
actually darn funny!
