Future filmmaker Christopher L. Golon and his friends enjoy hanging out
at the local ice cream parlor, where pretty much all of them worked one
time or another, and they love staging (fake) wrestling shows. But they're
also on the stepping stone from boyhood to manhood, so sex becomes an
increasingly important point of interest in their lives - not that they're
always handling the matter the most mature though ... Pretty
much a continuation of Golon's earlier Visions of Violence, this is
a video diary covering the years 1999 to 2003 in the filmmaker and his
friends' lives, filmed on various devices and not always aesthetically
accomplished - so do expect shaky camerawork, signs of worn tape, and not
always perfect sound. Also, this diary is pretty much filterless, so don't
expect much in terms of political correctness - after all, this is young
men basically doing locker room talk. And that's what's also so relatable
about this movie, as it's about a special stage in everybody's life -
early adulthood -, where lack of experience is compensated by an
over-abuncance of self confidence that doesn't always lead to the best
results - and in showing this as honestly as possible, this video diary is
completely endearing.
