Over the years, men have made many atrocious comments about rape, some
out of pure ignorance (and even I am not sure I'm not guilty of that, for
which I of course apologize), some out of lack of sympathy, but some go
further, are downright mean, are pathetic attempts to justify rape in
order to maintain "our" patriarchal dominance over women. And
one of the vilest remarks about rape ever was that from Representative Tom
Adkins when commenting on pregnancy through rape: "If it's a
legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing
down." - a quote that also opens this movie here. We then see a
congressman (Michael Thurber) paying a visit to a nightclub, where he's
presented with a tied up stripper (Karin Webb) to have fun with ... but
before he can have his way with the girl, he passes out - and when he
wakes up again, he finds himself in a back alley, and there's something
growing in his belly ... can't have been legitimate rape then ;) Very
obviously, this film was inspired by the vile remarks of Tom Adkins - and
really, it was about time somebody showed this idiot the middle finger ...
but the film doesn't work merely as a political statement but more so even
as a piece of horror cinema - bare to the bones mind you, also due to its
very limited running time, but it does work due to its actual feel for the
genre and for storytelling, the meanness of its story that goes beyond
just making a point, and of course, that wonderful twist at the end of the
movie. Fun, really!
