It's his (David Graziano) birthday, but the new number that expresses
his age means little to him, he has long started to feel lost in the
modern world, where there's too much noise, too much worthless
information, to really see the truth. Feeling thus disenfranchised, he
remembers another time - another era maybe, and maybe it's all in his head
-, when he was in Tangiers chasing a dragon, and he happened upon Kinnari
(Jamie Joshi), Goddess of beauty, and at least in his mind's eye, she also
appears to him now, leading his way to ... and that's for the viewer to
decide, really. Despite its rather depressing subject matter, Kinnari
is a hauntingly beautiful film, thanks to a great directorial effort that
favours mood over action, helped of course by compact camerawork and
editing - and then there's of course the very involving performance by
David Graziano, who makes one really believe his character and draws the
audience into the film. And all of this results in quite a fascinating
short. And if this has at all gotten you interested, you might
as well want to watch the movie on YouTube -
