Zaphrone (Josh Noel) is a wannabe serialkiller who still lives with his
mother (Paula Gates), never has killed anybody in his life, all his
attempts to finally make a kill are so clumsy they're riciculous ... and
not even his psychiatrist (Chris Schramm) is taking Zaphrone seriously.
But then, two cops (Adam Iezzi, Dave Wolf) are blaming one of Zaphrone's
attempts at murder on the legendary Broad Street Butcher ... and
that enrages the real Broad Street Butcher to such an attempt that he
plans to kidnap Zaphrone to teach him a lesson - not too big a challenge
as the Broad Street Butcher is also Zaphrone's psychiatrist ... Now
one has to admit, for a genre movie, especially a short one, Killerz
features an astounding number of original plottwists, and quite a few
spots to laugh out loud (if you're into dark humour) - and yet, as a whole
the film just doesn't live up to its promise: Basically, the film tries
too hard to be funny, and black humour really works only when one plays it
straight. Plus, despite some really funny bits the humour of the thing is
pretty broad overall, and really more jokes work against the story rather
than for it. And on top of that, the acting just isn't really there. That
all said, the film is far from a total waste of time, it is worth quite a
few laughs, it's just not what it could have been ...
