Bertie Wooster (Hugh Laurie) tries to clean up the mess he created last
episode (click here)
only to make matters worse, when he first finds himself romantically
involved with his cousin Angela (Amanda Elwes), who was meant for his
friend Tuppy (Robert Daws), then Madeline (Francesca Folan), his cousin
Gussie's (Richard Garnett) love interest even proposes marriage to Bertie,
and in no time at all noone will talk with each other any more ... which
is when finally Bertie's valet Jeeves (Stephen Fry) steps in, sees to it
that his master goes on a bogus errand that involves riding through the
rain on a bicycle for 20 miles, and in the meantime, the others reunite in
their contempt towards Bertie, who messed things up in the first place,
and the whole situation seems to resolve itself - well, thanks to Jeeves.
I can't but repeat myself here: A rather childish story and a rather
stagey and unimaginative direction, but extremely well acted and quite
amusing in a subtle way.
