Madge (Lisa Wilcox) and Edgar's (Paul T. Taylor) daughter (Bobbie
Ragsdale) is terminally ill and wants to spend her last days in her family
home - and her parents are so overcome by grief that they resort to a
terrible solution to all their problems ...
Meanwhile across town, youngsters Miley (Rylie Rodriguez), Carter
(Samantha Makley) and Isaiah (Mikael Dawkins) just want to get high and
for some reason they think it's a good idea to buy some untested drugs
from a decidedly shifty looking dealer (Joe Walker). Thing is, after
taking said drug, all three have to come to terms with certain issues in
their life, high as a kite - Miley with her abusive dad (Roman Garcia),
Isaiah with being rejected by Carter, despite being deeply in love with
her, and Carter with her own body issues. Suffice to say, none of this
ends pretty ...
Now Into the Gravel Pit is certainly not a film for everyone,
it's disturbing in both story and imagery, there's some explicit violence
but also traces of experimental filmmaking - and if you're not scared away
by all of this, you'll probably enjoy Into the Gravel Pit, a pretty
unusual and at times triplike piece of horror that refuses to follow any
genre formula, instead lets its off-the-wall story flow freely and indeed
wildly. And a relatable ensemble manage to keep the film grounded enough
to unfold its full, often shocking potential, making this a pretty unusual
but highly enjoyable genre piece - if you're up for something like this
that is.
