Two filmmakers (Sam Mason-Bell, Thomas Davenport) have taken it upon
themselves to make a documentary about the day-to-day professional life of
a prostitute (Tamsin Howland), but not only by asking her all the
questions you'd expect, but the director (Sam Mason-Bell) soon goes for
some first hand experience, meaning he shags her, then, after a few
drinks, goes into humiliation games, which include spanking and belting on
her, and some watersports. The prostitute is of course much to
professional to let this even faze her, for her the two documentarians are
just customers who have paid her for three days and nights, so for that
time she's theirs. The director though seems to enjoy this a bit too much,
especially the humiliation, takes too much personal pleasure out of a
professional situation ... The next day though, the tables are turned,
and it's the prostitute's turn to humiliate the director, a motion he
tries to smother, but his colleague convinces him it's all for the good of
their film. But the girl pushes all the right buttons to break her
subject, so much so that he plans to get back to her - but there's more to
our heroine than meets the eye, and not all is as pleasant as her looks
... It might be worth mentioning up front that Industrial
Animals is actually far less sleazy as a film than my synopsis might
make it sound: Sure there are plenty of sexual situations, but much more
is implied than actually played out on camera. Instead the film focuses on
its characters, and especially on the director-character and his (moral
and actual) downfall. And that's told in an engaging and even somehow
relateable way, one that doesn't forget to tell its story despite being
shot found footage style. Worth a watch for sure - if you're into things
that are dark and disturbing of course. And if this has gotten
you at all interested, Industrial Animals is available from
