High school student has long been secretly in love with co-ed Rex, and
now, on Valentine's Day, a card from him proves the feeling might be
mutual - so the two of them go to the yearly Valentine's dance together,
are promptly voted King and Queen of Valentine and are celebrated by their
peers ... and of course, what everybody already seems to expect to happen
actually happen, the two eventually find themselves in Lucy's room and are
about to do "it" ... but Lucy has some reservations,
reservations that lead her to chlorophorm him and tie him to a chair - but
whatever you might think the reason for this might be, you'll be surprised
about what's really going on ... Admittedly, the candy-coloured
imagery at the beginning of I Love Lucy, combined with the
light-footed tone and story known from too many a bad high school TV
series at the beginning of the movie was initially a bit of a turn-off -
but in retrospect it really had to be that way to make the ending work,
likewise the parts at the Dance that are probably intentionally
reminiscent of Carrie, as the ending really packs a punch and is
sure to take the audience by surprise, and is sure to leave everyone
horrified and laughing pretty much at the same time. So in hindsight, the
whole thing is cleverly constructed and works like a clockwork, and the
actors really fit their roles as well. Good fun, really!
