Astronaut Tony Nelson (Larry Hagman) is invited to Hollywood to act as
technical advisor on a Fantastic Voyage-style film (do note that
that movie wasn't released until one year later though), and he soon
becomes very friendly with Rita Mitchell (Nancy Kovack), the star of the
movie - much to the dismay of his genie Jeannie, who soon figures to
compete with Rita Mitchell, she has to become a moviestar herself. She has
a screentest and impresses everybody, but when her scene is shown on film,
she has to find out genies just don't photograph. It breaks her heart, but
then she learns that Tony has ditched Rita Mitchell just to watch her
screentest, and everything's alright again ... Narratively,
this episode doesn't have too much to offer, as both story and build-up
are weak, but some of the Hollywood-based humour is pretty funny (and
seems weirdly current even today), and Barbara Eden is pretty hilarious in
this one as well.
