Major Tony Nelson's (Larry Hagman) genie Jeannie (Barbara Eden) feels
under-achieving - so she gives him the biggest thing he can think of ...
an elephant! Unfortunately, NASA psychatrist Doctor Bellows (Hayden Rorke)
catches Tony with the elephant in his bedroom - and after he cannot
convince his superior (Barton MacLane) that Tony has an elephant (because
Jeannie has long blinked the animal away), he decides to move in with
Tony, just to find out what's wrong with him - much to Tony's dismay of
course because, well, he doesn't like Doctor Bellows very much, and Doc
Bellows mustn't know about Jeannie, who of course also lives in his house.
So yeah, Tony's in a dilemma ... but the first night Doctor Bellows sleeps
at Tony's, Jeannie decides to haunt him to such an extent that the good
Doctor ultimately runs away through the main door in his pyjamas. Even
if based on a less than wholly believable premise, this is a rather
hilarious episode, and also one that gives Hayden Rorke an opportunity to
come into his own. And Barbara Eden and Larry Hagman are of course funny
as always ...
