Astronaut Tony Nelson (Larry Hagman) has to go to Rome by boat, much to
the dismay of his genie Jeannie (Barbara Eden), who was in a shipwreck
2,000 years ago, an incident that left her stranded and locked inside a
bottle for all that time - and now she fears the same will happen to her
master. After much to and fro, Tony agrees to take her in her bottle, but
that's not enough for Jeannie, who wants to go to Rome as a woman rather
than a Jeannie - but to travel as a regular passenger she would need a
passport, and Tony forbids her to get one using magic. And Jeannie's
efforts to get her passport legally only end in chaos. Meanwhile Tony's
colleague Roger (Bill Daily) expects Tony to lend him Jeannie while he's
overseas ... and totally gets out of bounds with the things he wants
Jeannie to do ... So so episode of I Dream of Jeannie
that does show Barbara Eden doing some pretty good comedy, but most of the
subplot about Roger is just a not too original re-cap of Richest
Astronaut in the World, but without any good punchlines. Still not
a total failure, just not great either.
