When he bumps his head, Tony (Larry Hagman) totally forgets he has a
genie named Jeannie (Barbara Eden), and when he runs across her in his
place, he thinks it's a friend of his aunt's - and he finds her positively
charming, so much so that he invites her to stay with him as long as she
likes, plus he plans to propose pretty much from day one. This is much to
the dismay of his best friend Roger (Bill Daily), the only one but Tony
who knows about Jeannie's secret and who thinks for Jeannie to marry Tony
under a false pretense would be a terrible idea, thus he wants to avoid
this at all costs and make Jeannie tell Tony who she really is ... and
when she doesn't, he himself tells Tony - but Tony immediately reports
this to the NASA psychiatrist Doctor Bellows (Hayden Rorke), who quickly
jumps to the conclusion Roger is behind all the turmoil he has so far
blamed on Tony (but which was really Jeannie's work), and now he wants to
report everything to General Peterson (Barton MacLane) - but when General
Peterson arrives at Tony's place, everything has already gone back to
normal as Tony was hit over the head again, this time remembering Jeannie
as an effect, and once again, Doctor Bellows has made a fool of himself
... A fun little episode that takes a bit of a detour from the
routine and yets fits perfectly with the series as a whole. And Barbara
Eden and Larry Hagman are at the best of their game, ably supported by the
usual supporting cast.
