Janice (Aimee Bello) and Steve (Michael Jordan) seem to be the perfect
couple, they're in love, they get along greatly, their sex is good - in a
word, they couldn't be happier ... but wait, there is one glitch, Janice
is married to someone else, abusive Dave (Brad Egger), who has the habit
to beat her unconscious when he feels like it. Steve implores her to run
as fast as she can, but she claims she can handle it - and then Dave dies
from a radio that somehow got pushed into his bathtub. Four months
later: Janice and Steve's relationship is still going strong, and now she
has got no more husband to worry about, and was left with hubby's
house, too. Now life is exactly what it's supposed to be ... only, what's
Dave's mother (Janet Gawrys) doing there lurking around the house. Isn't
she supposed to be in a mental institution for believing to be a witch? Click

to be told, House Call does not hold many surprises for the average
horror fan, it pretty much follows the pattern of a classic EC-Comic
- in story, not in style - up to its macabre yet highly moral surprise
twist ending and never veers off the beaten path ... and that's exactly
what makes House Call a really good short: It's a bare-to-the-bones
straight-forward horror story that doesn't waste time with unnecessary
subplots or overlong explanations but focuses on building up tension and
suspense, and seeing its story through to the end. A subtle directorial
effort and a decent cast don't hurt one bit either, of course. Pretty
good, actually!
