It has been a month since Uncle Lee (Hung Feng) has disappeared, but
Sherry, the woman he treated like a daughter, has since led the shoe
manufactory in his name and seen to it that it remained in business and
well, too. You have to know that Sherry is madly in love with Uncle Lee's
son Tien (Lam Chak Ming) ... but he just doesn't love her back. Instead he
invites Wendy (Suen Tong), a girl from college home, a girl who doesn't
like poor Sherry one bit and threatens to take over her place in the
company. So Sherry asks her colleague Wang to do something about it ...
and the next day, Wendy is gone. So far, it sounds like a soap opera,
but here is where the whole thing gets ugly: You see, Sherry has offered
herself to Wang should he make Wendy disappear. Having fulfilled his
assignment, Wang comes to collect, and when she refuses to pay up, he
rapes her. As if that wasn't bad enough, during the rape, Sherry's
memories of Uncle Lee's disappearance come back, and she recognizes Wang
to be the man who killed him. Plus, I should mention here that he has
turned Uncle Lee's skin into shoeleather ... The next day, Wang is gone,
but the police gets increasingly nosey about the place, especially after
they discover that the shoes here are made from human skin. However,
Sherry remains mum as to where she got the skin from. Then Sherry's
colleague Ree (Yu See-Man) discovers bodyparts belonging to Uncle Lee and
Wendy in the backyard ... and decides to blackmail Sherry. Sherry pays up
reluctantly, but when Ree tries to rape her, she knows how to defend
herself - and then the police arrives, she is arrested and thrown into the
slammer. Eventually, she tells the whole story, but nobody really believes
her, nobody but Tien, who then tracks down and kills Wang, but not before
Wang has confessed who's behind the human skin trade ... and thus, Tien
takes on a whole gangster organisation single-handedly. He is killed in
the process, but avenges whoever needs to be avenged ... Not
for the faint of heart, this is a pretty offensive film full of
ultra-violence and sex and rape, and even a few real-life animal killings.
It's not a good film by any measure, mind you, the plot never rises above
dimestore novel standard, the direction is functional, and the acting is
adequate at best ... but then the whole thing is of a special bluntness
it's heard to resist, and the in-your-face attituce of the whole thing is
almost hypnotic. That said though, all of this will probably only appeal
to bad movie afficionados, gorehounds or trash film fans, and again, it's
certainly not for the faint of heart ...
