The hookers of Brooklyn decide it's time to free themselves of their
abusive, money-grabbing pimps, so under the leadership of Delilah (Osas
Ighodaro), they form a union, an organisation meant to guard the girls
from their own pimps, from the law, from whatnot. Of course, the pimps
don't like the idea, the cops don't like the idea, so one pimp (Illa) is
sent out to kill Delilah ... but he fucks up. Delilah though is killed
anyways, by fellow hooker Cleopatra (Olivia Lopez), but nobody has
witnessed this in all the commotion. With Deliah gone, Cleopatra and
Coco (Nefra Dabney) are quick to take over the union - after all, hookers
still need protection, right, and to guard one another's back isn't
exactly a bad idea. Coco is an idealist, she really cares for her
hookers and wants to better life for them all. Cleopatra on the other hand
is a cold-blooded bitch, sho only wants to better life for herself and
sees the union as a possibility to collect protecion money just like the
pimps had. She also makes arrangements with the police and soon lands in
bed with corrupt cop Simmons (Sean Weathers), who helps her in her crooked
endeavours as long as he remains on the receiving end. Eventually, Coco
comes up with the idea to form an escort agency that would grant all of
the hookers more money for less work, but Cleopatra is dead against it ...
so she lures Coco into a trap and has her killed by none other than
Simmons himself - and on top of it all, this was also a trap to lure an
"honest" congressman over to their side of thinking (helped by a
little money of course). With Coco gone, Cleopatra redesigns her idea of
a escort agency as her own - but has her employees work twice as hard for
less pay ... And yes, over the course of two years, the union of the
hookers has driven the pimps of old out of Brooklyn - but only replaced
them with a new, much more corrupt, much more abusive system that now even
has a foothold in a dirty business called politics. George
Orwell's classic Animal Farm - told as a blaxploitation film
with prostitutes replacing the animals ... not that sounds like an
interesting concept, but also a concept that's almost bound to fail. Writer/director
Sean Weathers does not fail however, basically because he keeps the fine
balance between getting across his message and simply entertaining his
audience, he doesn't make the mistake of preaching directly to his
audience or trying to hard to hammer his points across, and direction-wise
he gives the whole story a certain exploitation/grindhouse feeling - so
there is as much of a message in the film as there is action, violence,
nudity, sex, and sexy girls in revealing outfits. And that all adds up to
a pretty entertaining movie ...
