Basically, Honor de Cavalleria is a retelling of Miguel
Cervantes' Don Quixote, with all the action and the jokes taken out. What
remains is Don Quixote (Lluís Carbó) wandering the countryside (the film
was made entirely outdoors) looking for what he calls honour (but never
finding any) and every now and again scolding his knave, the rotund, stoic
and taciturn Sancho Pansa (Lluís Serrat) or giving him what he considers
valuable advice ...
Now all that might sound dead-boring, but while I admit it's a bit on
the dull side, the film features some very dry humour - mainly due to the
fact that there is very little actually happening - that is hard to
resist.
However, a laugh riot the film is not, neither is it a great if subtle
comedy ... the film is an interesting experiment in makintg the most of,
well, very little.
