Having just graduated from college and finding there's nowhere to go
from there, James (Justin Lamb) tries for a job at a local warehouse, to
help sorting through the inventory - thing is, the inventory are all
corpses, and freshly deceased (and sometimes not even all dead) ones at
that, delivered each morning by contract killers whose job it is to sort
out undesirable elements of society like hookers or the homeless. This is
naturally totally a not desirable job, but it's made even harder by the
fact that the ghosts of the deceased haunt the place, and the only way to
not lose one's mind is to self-medicate heavily. James is about to turn
the job, even, when he meets John (Christopher Sugarman), a college
graduate like him determined to get the job ... Above all else,
Help Wanted is an enjoyably dark satire that takes the concept (and
it is no more than that) of "undesirable elements of society" to
extremes and in the form of an extremely dark yet light-footed horror
comedy throws it back at society. And thanks to macabre ideas, a competent
ensemble cast and a subtle directorial effort that doesn't try to hammer
home the point, the concept works rather beautifully, too. By
the way, part of Hillbilly
Horror Show - Episode 2.
