Bryce (Jackson Trent) once was a superhero forcing people to eat
healthy ... but that was long ago, now he's writing books to profit from
his fame. Then he meets Timmy (Andrew Beasley), whose girlfriend Barbara
(Jessica Fornear) has lost her ability to feel emotions ... and at first,
Bryce insists he can't help - but Timmy won't stop believing in him, and
Bryce and Barbara's stories are somehow intertwined, so whether he wants
it or not, Bryce eventually tries ... Frankly, I don't know
what to make of Health Nut, part of it plays like a superhero
parody, part of it like a straight drama of the indie variety, some bits
seem to be intended as inspirational, some just too far-fetched to fit
into the whole thing, and everything's held together by a rather sloppily
built-up story that's not really helped by a so-so cast. Sure, there are
some nice bits in there, like very fitting use of its musical score, but
overall nothing to write home about.
