Back in the day, Bobby (Bobby Bulloch) and Stephen (Stephen Kerr) were
best friends - but lots of watre has gone down the river since, and when
they now reunite in their former hometown to visit some of their old
haunts, it quickly becomes clear that there's something odd between them
that has bigger implications than just Bobby stealing Stephen's girlfriend
(Kaitlin Martz) back in the day. Truth is, they're sharing a dark secret -
in fact a secret so dark that one of them is prepared to kill for it ... There
isn't really much happening in Haunts, it's really just two guys
talking and reminiscing, and more hinting at what might have happened back
when than actually calling it by name - and really that's quite enough to
make this into a very engaging film, thanks to a very atmospheric
directorial effort that gets the most out of its rather pittoresque
locations, coupled with strong performances that really carry the subtext
of the movie as such rather than just the dialogue. And the ending is sure
to creep one out. Worth a look for sure.
