It's been years since his ex (Tímea Virga) has broken up with him, but
John Doe (Balázs Szitás) just hasn't come over their separation, maybe
less so because her new boyfriend (Tamás Szilágyi) has once been a good
friend of his - so eventually he has come to the resolution to kill the
both of them. But since we live in the age of social media, he's not
content to just killing the both of them, he's also vlogging about the
deed, and the last three days of preparation, like he trains to stalk his
victims, how he gets a gun, spies out their whereabouts and even practices
his killing skills on an escort (Olivia Barta). But still, for the big
night, he's got a few surprises in store ... A Guidebook to
Killing Your Ex is a darkly charming little movie, one that rather
effortlessly combines comedy and drama, laughs and terror, and that makes
good use of the found footage approach, making it part of the movie's
narrative structure. Plus the fact that the movie doesn't go over the top
with either its terror or its funny bits really helps to bring the story
across, as does John Doe as played by Balázs Szitás, who despite the
character's apparent arrogance and mental state is portrayed as bumbling
enough to also come across as likeable. In all, good, dark fun! By
