Her father has been killed by evil mob boss Eagle Lau, so topmodel
Sherri Lee, who in her sparetime is also a Golden Ninja, travels to Hong
Kong to take revenge. First she frees a bunch of prostitutes held in one
of Eagle's brothels single-handedly, then she sees to it that the police
routinely raids his casinos, and occasionally she even helps the police,
fighting-wise.
However, Eagle eventually grows wise to her and tries everything to get
hold of her - but she is helped by photographer Dick, who is really an
undercover cop, and fellow Golden Ninja Mike (Donald Owen), who has to
bring the statue of the Golden Ninja Warrior (for more information
on that ugly statue, see Ninja
Terminator) to China, so it's not an easy task to get hold of
Sherri.
But Eagle has an ace up his sleeve: Sakura, a Red Ninja, and the Red
Ninjas are traditional enemies of the Golden Ninjas and of course want the
statue of the Golden Ninja Warrior. Soon enough, Sakura fights and defeats
Sherri, and Sherri becomes Eagle's prisoner, who wastes little time and
rapes her ... and now all her Ninja magic can't help Sherri ... only Dick,
who has found out where she is held and has an associate create a
diversionwhile he frees her - but Sherri comes out of it a broken woman
...
... but Sherri is back for the final fight (in some cool, futuristic
looking abandoned seaside houding complex), when she and Mike take on
Eagle, his henchmen, and Sakura ... and of course our heroes win, with
Sherri in the end stabbing Eagle, her revenge being fulfilled.
Most of the Joseph Lai-produced Ninja movies starring Richard Harrison
are just scenes with Harrison and Ninja fights furnished around some
already existing movie - Golden Ninja Warrior though seems to be made out
of one piece - except for (ironically) the short scenes with Richard
Harrison (he is seen worshipping the Golden Ninja Warrior, then putting on
his Ninja mask)at the beginning of the film, which are taken from Ninja
Terminator. However, if you think being out of one piece makes the
film less confusing, you are wrong. The film is full of abandoned subplots
and characters entering or leaving the plot without explanation, and the
plot as such seems to be totally not thought through.
So is it a bad film ?
Yes.
Is it fun to watch ?
Hell yes !!!
See characters turn into Ninjas and back again in mid-fight, marvel at
the artificially sped up Ninja fight scenes, wonder about Ninja darts that
follow their targets even when they make turns, and stare in disbelief at
Queenie Yang's outrageous fighting outfits - including a ugly flowered
dress, a skimpy cheapo superhero-like costume, and at one point she even
fights in the nude. It is such things that make the film something so
out-of-this-world that one starts loving it against better judgement ... it's silly, and one knows it's bad,
yes, but at the same time one just can't help enjoying it
nevertheless.
