Marty (Matthew Cottle) is determined to keep his ex Clare (Tracy Keating) from
emigrating to Australia & taking their daughter with her ... especially
since she's going with another man. So he hires a lawyer (Jonathan Coy), but
somehow loses trust in him when he realizes that man - after his divorce - is
waging a one-man war against women ... & one of their conversaqtions ends
with the lawyer repeatedly banging his head against his desk ...
Next Marty devices a plan to abduct his daughter to Brasil, & he almost
goes through with it too until he realizes the bond between his daughter &
Clare, & that the girl might need her mother more than him, & he
decides to let them go ...
Marty's flatmate, aagoraphobic Matt (Neil Stuke) meanwhile shags their
upstairs neighbour, attractive Laura (Louise Delamere), who has serious
problems with her husband Nigel (Steve Hope-Wynne), but when Matt boasts about
it, neither Marty nor Mandy (Samantha Janus) - their other flatmate - will
believe it, & won't accept any of the evidence he presents, be it her
knickers or a clumsy hidden camera-video that doesn't really show anything. In
the end, Matt persuades Marty to hide in the room & watch as awitness,
which he does & does really see Matt shagging Laura ... but even then,
Mandy won't believe the story, which puts MAtt in such a rage that he shouts
out aloud "I'm shagging Laura from upstairs !" for everyone in the
whole appartmentbuilding they live in to hear - including of course Nigel,
Laura's hubby, who immediately heads downstaqirs, clenched fists, & rings
at Matt's door ... but unfortunately Marty opens ...
Even though the Clare-subplot has much too cheesy an ending & the
Matt-shags-Laura subplot is a bnit too clichéd, this episode is still pretty
funny.
