Mandy (Samantha Janus) has invited the mother (Rowena Cooper) & sister Lulu
(Lucy Briers) of her boyfriend Archie (Crispin Bonham-Carter) - her future
in-laws - for dinner so they can get to know her better. But she panicks even
before they arrive & drinks herself to a coma while preparing the food -
which leaves it to her roommates Marty (Matthew Cottle) & Matt (Neil Stuke)
to handle the situation. That even goes well for a while ... until Lulu finds
Marty with his baby daughter Rosie, & in a grave misjudgement thinks that
Mandy is the mother ... which she tells her mother. When Mandy has finally woken up & arrives to entertain her guests,
Archie's mum tells ehr she knows her little secret - referring to
Marty's daughter - but Mandy, totally oblivious to what the woman means, starts
guessing & in the process tells all of her other little secrets - like her
very promiscuous past, her borrowing 9.000 Pounds from Archie, hjer, & even
her hzushed up pregnancy at age 15 ... but everyone is pretty much baffled when
she refers to Rosie, & even goes so far as to insult her - which leads to
Marty taking a firm stand for his little daughter, which in turn impresses the
baby's mother, Marty's ex Clare (Tracy Keating),, the girl he nover got over
& who previously had the impression he was interminably boring. Just too
bad she has to tell him now she will emigrate to Australia ...
Archie's mum, having learned all of Mandy's secrets, calls off Mandy's
wedding to her son immediately, which makes Mandy feel ... strangely relieved
- until Archie arrives at her door, confessing his endless love to her, & to prove
it gving her a lifesize stuffed deer ...
Again, very serious issues are treated in a very funny way ... & again
it works.
