Journalist Karin Nykvist (Uschi Digard) has come from Sweden to San
Francisco to prove - in an article - that the sexual revolution is an
international phenomenon.
First she goes to a porn cinema to see a dirty movie about two
lesbians, which really turns her on. Then, through an open door she
watches a young couple do it unashamed (with, weirdly, a cat sitting onn
the bed withthem during the whole session), which turns her on even more.
in the end, she returns to her hotel room and pleasures herself - using a
plateau shoe (!).
On a good day, director Nick Philips could produce the most stylish,
most psychedelic and most interesting pieces of softcore cinema
imaginable, and on a shoestring budget too. Unfortunately, Fancy Lady
was not done on a good day, so the outcome is a rather meaningless (if not
all unerotic) sex-flick - even if the free-jazz soundtrack is rather nice
and Uschi Digard's off-screen narration in heavy accent (there is no
on-screen-sound) is at least amusing.
Fun in a nostalgic way, but nothing to write home about.
