Mohsen loves animals, and incidently he speaks their language - which he
makes good use of every time his parents take him to the nearby jungle.
Unfortunately, of late poachers roam the jungle, their prime target being
tiger Tigy - and since Mohsen can't let Tigy fall into their hands he lets
Tigy hide in the trunk of his dad's car and later sneaks him into his
room. But a city is no place for a tiger, so he attaches himself to a
school trip, just to smuggle Tigy back into the jungle in his luggage. And
despite many mishaps, this plan actually works out. Thing is, the poachers
are still around, and they capture jungle animals left and right, many
Mohsen's friends, and he decides to save them and thus assumes his
superhero identity Nimble Kid. Problem is, whiile Mohsen indeed has super
powers, they are limited, and he has but little control over them, so in
an attempt to save the animals from the poachers, led by imposing
Extinguisher Alex, he sets the forest on fire and drives them right into
Alex's trap. And now Mohsen really owes the animals to save them
- but how to do it when he's not only outnumbered but also prone to
capital errors?
Now of course, Extinction: Animals Unite is a film for
the whole family, so don't expect anything too provocative or over-the-top
or quite simply avant garde here - but that said, this is a movie that's
at times really funny, has some great setpieces, carries a very welcome
animal preservation message, and of course the occasional references to
the Calvin and Hobbes comic strip don't hurt none either.- and
what's most important, it doesn't talk down to its young audience but
isn't too childish for its adult viewers, so really delivers on what a
family film's supposed to be.
