After having saved him from a gang of thugs, So-so (Man So) takes an
instant liking in poor scholar Wu Ming (Sin Lap-Man) and decides to take
care of him from now on, to slowly make him fall in love with her. Because
her sister So-so goes for "walks" every day all of a sudden, Fei
Fei (Hitomi Kudo) becomes suspicious, and one day secretly follows her to
the scholar's hut, to peep on him bathing after So-so has gone. The
scholar catches her peeping and chases her away. This gets Fei Fei crying,
and when her sister Hua Hua sees her in tears, she gets so upset she wants
to have revenge on Wu Ming ... but they end up making love. Fei Fei
returns to Wu Ming's place to apologize she has sent her sister, not
knowing they shagged, and soon enough they end in bed as well. When
So-so finds a hairpin of her sister in Wu Ming's bed the next day, she is
understandably upset, but ends up having sex with the scholar as well. Eventually,
the three sisters confess to each other they all had sex with Wu Ming, but
since they love each other, they decide to forgive each other and live
together with the scholar as a happy foursome. What Wu Ming doesn't know
though is that the three girls he has sex with are ghosts, and eventually
they have to send him away, because they can reach immortality only if
they stay abstinent for 36 days - otherwise they turn into animal ghosts.
Cut off from his source of constant sex, Wu Ming ages rapidly, so much so
that he sees himself forced to magically seduce other women. The girls
though are soon desperate: Despite the fact that they stay clear of sexual
activities, they grow fur - the first step of changing back into animal
ghosts. What they didn't know of course is that Wu Ming is actually a
powerful sex demon who ... well, he's evil. Good thing then that the three
ghost sisters know a Taoist priest who helps them get rid of him. Basically,
this film, a period sex comedy somehow reminiscent of Witches of
Eastwick, is ok being what it is, but it certainly is nothing special
(and doesn't even attempt to be). This pretty much means the direction is
functional at best, the humour is anything but subtle, but not half as
moronic as in other sex comedies, and the few action setpieces are all
less than exceptional but acceptable ... but at least, the girls are cute,
and they all (apart from Amy Yip, naturally) bare their breasts
frequently. Nothing you need to have seen, but there is way worse out
there.
