Two FBI agents (Salome Henry, Emmanuel Henry) are after a serialkiller
(Henry Mandler), whose modus operandi it is to clobber his victims to
death with a hammer. And he leaves behind cryptic messages regarding a
"Shub-Niggurath", messages the agents fail to properly interpret
the messages, and so they have been a few steps behind the killer ever
since they picked up his trail, also because while his modus operandi is
consistent, little is known of his base of operations, and he strikes at
seemingly very random places. But the latest message suggests the killer's
to meet his "Shub-Niggurath" in the park ... well, summon might
be a better expression - and too bad for the agents that Shub-Niggurath is
in fact a very evil and very mighty demon ... Now I'll have to
state what's obvious from the beginning first, this is not a slick special
effects showcase but more of an amateur effort made with friends for
little to no money, so do expect some inconsistencies in each and every
department, from actors to sound to camerawork to effects and whatnot -
and that said, the right spirit really shines through here: These people
love the horror genre and do understand it, a certain kind of irony shines
through it all, and while the special effects aren't always up to the
task, one can't help but give the thing thumbs up for good ideas. And in
that respect, this is a flawed but likeable movie.
