Because he refused to participate in a rebellion, master martial artist
Kua is murdered by villain Hsi Chang, and only his little daughter is
brought to safety in time, and left in the hands of a Kung Fu-master, who
teaches her the necessary skills to eventually take her revenge. Years
later: Kua's daughter has grown up to be the Mistress of Verity Lodge, and
she and her four (female) companions now set out to equal the score with
Hsi Chang, even if that means killing one of his best men, who was out on
a quest to avenge his father. Eventually, Hsi Chang's men manage to
track down the mistress and her companions, but while they manage to kill
the four other girls, the mistress, gravely poisoned, is saved by a
stranger, Ken Lung, who nurses her back to health, and ultimately, the two
go up against Hsi Chang together and manage to defeat and kill him. Ok
martial arts flick that does not convince on a storytelling level - when
it comes to flashbacks and the like, the director seems like a fish out of
water -, but makes up for this with its many well-staged fight scenes,
several of which are nothing short of hilarious in their inventiveness ...
though it's all done on a low budget, which sometimes shows unfortunately.
Still, good entertainment, if you don't take the film too seriously that
is.
