John Smith (Than Wyenn) has never done anyone any wrong, but he has
spent the last 22 years in prison for murder, basically because of being
in the wrong place at the wrong time and because of bad counselling during
his trial (his appointed lawyer told him to plead guiilty to avoid a death
sentence). Now the Court of Last Resort reinvestigates his case
though, and soon enough, they have tracked down the man who could provide
him with an alibi for the time of the murder, Halsted (Karl Swenson),
nowadays a successful businessman but a bum 22 years ago Smith shared his
food with, and Halsted would have made his statement in Smith's favour
much sooner, too (after all, this man fed him), but he simply didn't know
the man was on trial in the first place. With Halsted's alibi, Smith is of
course released right away, and Halsted even offers him a job. Suspense-free
crime drama, rather on the cheesy side and not really worth watching.
