Gale is terminally ill ... from a disease nobody knows anything
about, so the best thing that might happen to her is that after her death
the disease and/or the vaccine to fight it will be named after her - but
she decides to go a different path and not hand her (still alive) body
over to science ... Contact was made for the Ottawa’s
Sparta Film Challenge (and will have its first screening on February
23rd, 2015) - which means it had to be shot, cut and finished within 72
hours, and run along certain pre-set lines - and yet, you couldn't tell
this short was a rushed and forced-into-a-pattern piece of film, as
filmmaker Andrew Robinson was clever enough to not clutter his movie with
stuff too ambitious for three days and instead told a little story that
should seem familiar but takes a totally different turn via two talking
heads, a few handdrawn images and a little (easy-to-achieve) computer
trickery ... and this way, he actually gets a pretty good movie!!!
