A group of friends (Annina Kaski, Shane Buckley, Vicky Lissaman, Tom
Summers) go deep into the woods - you know, where there's no phone signal
and shit - for a bit of camping ... which basically means lots of alcohol
and weed and the like. Sure, the spot they've picked is said to once have
been the stomping ground for a group of killer clowns, but that's really
just the stuff or urban legend ... right? So our heroes are not at all
really concerned, not even when they're paid a visit by whacko blonde
Colette (Kellyann Summers) and her slave-like brother Charlie (Steven
Pereira), who talk about hunting and killing a bit too much. But hey,
they're easily gotten rid of under a weak pretense, so what really is to
worry. Well, eventually they come back, dressed up as machete wielding
clowns ... A nice little piece of horror that actually manages
to keep the horror at bay until the third act - and it still works
perfectly fine, presenting the audience with well-fleshed out characters
with relatable conflicts, so even if the terror doesn't set in until late,
this one's well entertaining, and when the clowns finally attack (which
you know they will thanks to the title), it's all the more impactful
thanks to that - and of course, the clown attack scenes are very
well-handled and find the right balance between violence and suspense to
make the casual horror fan very happy.
