Cops Karnes (Lando Anderson) and Jackson (Kevin Kunkel) are about to
question a suspect in an especially gruesome murder case, where so many
bodyparts have been found in a warehouse that it's hard to determine how
many victims there have been even. Thing is, their suspect, Angel Todd
(Amanda Pitzer), while handcuffed, doesn't act at all like she's supposed
to, she doesn't seem intimidated, gives the cops smiles, and answers most
questions with her own, cryptical questions ... and she knows much more
about those questioning her than she's supposed to, much less makes them
feel comfortable. And gradually, too, Karnes and Jackson start to remember
things as well they're not supposed to remember, that cannot have happened
- or can they? Casefile 293610 is a fun little film that
leads you down a well-throdden path for quite some time, playing with the
conventions of your typical interrogation situation - including
good-cop-bad-cop games and the like - without ever breaking them ... to
suddenly veer off into a totally different direction - which narratively
at least still makes perfect sense. And that this doesn't result in a
carwreck nevertheless is also thanks to a directorial effort that doesn't
just spoonfeed the audience but keeps them guessing, and a very solid
cast.
