Sebastián (Jaume Pla) is an old man now, living on moderate means in a
boarding house with nothing much but a bed and a TV and a window to look
out of at his disposal - but that hasn't always been the case, once he was
Captain Kinesis, with telekinesis being his superpower which he used to
smash tanks, end wars, fight villains - but that ended 20 years ago, when
he decided to end his career on a high and fade into obscurity. And now he
uses what's left of his telekinetic powers just to amuse himself. And then
one day an official (Eduard Josep Gómez) stops by to inform him he has to
be moved into a nursing home - which is totally against what Sebastián
feels fair. So he trains his abilities again to defend himself on the day
he is to be moved. But maybe he has just never been as powerful as he had
always thought ... This is quite simply a charming little
movie, basically because it doesn't try to be charming but spin a fun
little yarn that makes up what it lacks in spectacle with subtle humour,
while rather excellent camerawork gets the most out of the film's very
limited locations. And add to that a strong central performance by Jaume
Pla, and you've got yourself a winner for sure.
