Archeologist Kwong (Bruce Li) & his friend Chin (Lee Gam Kwan) go top Snake
Worship Island in New Guinea, the former to study the natives, the latter to
study Snake style Kung Fu, but once there they learn of the evil devil sect
that butally rules over the Snake Tribe & its benevolent princess Ankawa
(Dana).
After many Kung Fu fights with the sect's guards (lead by Bolo Yeung), Kwong
& Chin get separated, & while Chin manages to escape back to Hong Kong,
Kwong seems to have disappeared. It is not until many moons later that Kwong
returns as well, but he is a changed man, always brooding, & when women
touch him, he invariably seems to turn into a snake.
But why is that ? When on Sanke island, Kwong fought the Great Wizard of the
Devil sect, & that man poisoned him & left him to die. Fortunately
though Kwong was found by princess Ankawa & nursed back to health. The 2
(of course) fell in love, but when Kwong was discovered by the wizard, he was
saved only on the condition that he left Snake Worship Island & the
princess would do everything the wizard wants - which comes quite handy for the
wizard, as he wants to marry her to his good-for-nothing son (San Kuai) ...
Kwong & Chin however decide to train some more Kung Fu & go back to
Snake Worship Island, & it was about time too, since the princess has since
born Kwong's son, who has been cursed to die within a week ba the wizard's son,
& the only way to lift the curse is to find the Snake Pearl. Unfortunately
though, there are some treasure hunters after the legendary pearl, too, so
Kwong & Chin have to fight not only the sect but these guys as well.
Chin loses his life in the proceedings, but Kwong manages to beat both
the wizard & his son - who was about to rape the princess - as well as the
treasure hunters, find the pearl, heal his son & in the end head off to
Hong Kong with the princess.
Ah yeah, there's a gorilla guarding the princess thrown into the story, too.
A stupid martial arts story with hints of the supernatural, a man in a bad
ape suit, women in cheap & cheesy skimpy costumes (comparable to those of
that campy Wonder Woman tv-series), some exotic locations with the
occasional power line hanging into the picture, in other words: pretty
dumb, but a fun watch.
