Setsu's (Mirai Yamamoto) son Daio (Mitsuru Akaboshi) dies in a car
accident - but she is simply not ready to accept the fact that he is gone,
and upon the advice of an old hag, she brings him back to life ... as a
zombie. And as any good zombie would, Daio soon starts roaming the streets
and killing and eating people. Setsu's still not prepared to let him go
though, and she even lures children to her home to feed to Daio and does
everything to keep him alive on a medical level since she is a doctor. Eventually
though, Daio begins to realize the misery of his own life and asks his
mother to kill him, and a nosey (in more sense than one) detective has
caught up with Daio and Setsu too - and still, she cannot let go ... until
upon escape from the police, Daio bites his own mother to death, only to
in the end be put out of his misery by above-mentioned detective ... Nice
piece of tongue-in-cheek horror, obviously made on the cheap and featuring
many an unconvincing set and back-projection, but moody nevertheless, and
charming for its shortcomings (which the film never really tries to hide).
It might help not to take the whole thing too seriously though.
