Someone - or rather something - is killing girls in Manila by sucking
them dry of blood, and since police Captain Miguel (Vic Diaz) fails to
find a single conclusive clue, he decides to invite US-criminologist
Rourke (Robert Winston) to the Phillipines to help him with the
investigations. Rourke of course gladly accepts but insists on working
undercover, with only the Captain and his sister Silvia - who at first
loathes the chauvinist American but ultimately falls in love with him -
knowing about his real identity
Posing as a journalist, he for some reason or another starts
investigating at the nightclub of Calderone, who alternatively has him
beaten up and invites him to drinks, where Rourke soon falls for the
charms of blonde dancer Serena - and of course he is totally right, as
Calderone is actually a sort of vampire (who runs around with what looks
like a melted face when he's in his bloodsucking capacity) and Serena, a
South American native (I didn't know they had blonde natives in South
America) is his assistant - but when Rourke has figured that out, it's
almost too late since Calderone and Serena have already abducted Silvia to
make her their next victim - but guess who kills the villains in the end
and gets the girl (Silvia, that is) ...
Trash, total trash, obviously. My synopsis strongly suggets it, and the
film lives up to its plot's promise. That said, as horror schlock, the
film is pretty amusing, an over-the-top collection of pulp-horror motives
with a definite Fillipino flavour and made on the cheap - just like films
like this are supposed to be made. Of course, Blood Thirst is also
a film that you will probably have forgotten the next morning - but that
doesn't mean it's anything but totally enjoyable ...
