A series of strange deaths is plagueing the US-beaches of the Atlantic
Ocean, and since several of this deaths happen simultaneously, it can't be
a serialkiller - and thus a top secret gouvernment team of scientists has
picked up investigations. But there's not much to go on but the crazed
writings of a mysterious homeless man (Jonny Beauchamp) a detective (Tom
Sizemore) has gathered from one of the murder scenes, writings which none
of the scientists take very seriously - none but Luiza (Nana Gouvea), who
soon finds whatever she and the team are looking for might not be chemical
or bacteriological but mythological. Of course, nobody believes her, and
the head of the team even suggests to her to take leave of her job - but
then their prime specimen (Kelly Rae LeGault) escapes and heads for the
sea, leaving a trail of death and destruction behind. And even if Luiza is
on the verge of losing her own mind, she knows she must follow her to
solve the mystery ... A highly interesting piece of sci-fi
horror that doesn't play the formula game but time and again builds up
inbound genre expectations, only to then blow them sky high - which works
totally in favour of the movie thanks to a solid script and a compact
directorial effort. And thus the movie's a bit zombie movie, some parts
alien invasion flick, conspiracy thriller, found footage film and whatnot,
but the blend turns it into something highly original. And add to that
plenty of suspense, jump scares and gross-out scenes on one side, a great
cast on the other, and you've got yourself a very cool movie indeed!
