Amanda (Kristina Emerson) wakes up in the middle of the woods, all
confused and slightly bloodied, and then she makes it back to her and her
friends' camp, she doesn't find anyone, only traces of blood ... so she
does what's right, really, and gets back to their car to call the cops.
Then she finds her boyfriend in his death throes - but it is what comes to
the fore once she starts to remember again that's REALLY horrifying ... Basically,
Blackout is not breaking any new ground, just re-iterating horror
mainstays - but it does so very well, with all the suspense, shocks and
blood in all the right places. Sure, it's not a genre classic - but at
least a solid exercise in horror filmmaking, and maybe even more.
