James Bataille (Jason Flemyng), who has just been hired to do a few
motorbike stunts to promote a bar in the middle of nowhere, falls in love
with musician Concia (Vanessa Paradis), incidently the daughter of the
bar's owner Bosco (Jean-Pierre Marielle) - much to Bosco's dismay.
When James, during a stunt, accidently crashes the bar of Bosco, Bosco
sees that as a fine chance to have him imprisoned on trumped up terrorism
charges. But before long, James escapes & comes back to get her, right
on the day when Bosco plans to reopen his bar with a talent contest, so
trouble seems to be brewing, especially since an impresario, Allan
Chiasse (Benoît Poelvoorde) has meanwhile laid his eyes on Concia 6
despereately tries to get into her pants.
But all that is still nothing compared to the aliens who have landed
nearby, & they are pretty much out to kill humanity. & as if that
still wasn't bad enough, Chiasse has been infected by one of them, before
long becomes a horrible monster & kidnaps Concia. The other aliens
meanwhile kill pretty much everyone in the talent contest, except for
James & Bosco, who have to form an uneasy allliance for Concia's sake
... & soon James is equipped with a rocket pack by Matt Kelso
(Venantino Venantini) a guy from another dimension, & goes after
Chiasse & Concia, fighting aliens along the way.
Of course, James defeats Chiasse the monster in the end, but before
Concia is properly saved, she is sucked up into space & presumably
teleported to antoher dimension. & ight when James' rocket pack is out
of gas. so he has only one chance, to do his most daring motorbike stunt
ever to jump up into space & find the entrance to the other dimension
... whcih he succeeds in. But up there (or wherever else he is), he
doesn't find only one Concia but several ... End.
A film that tries way too hard to be one of these over-the-top trash
movies to really work, forgetting beneath all the intentionally used
trash-clichés to tell a stringent story. Accordingly, the film turned
out as just a succession of tired jokes & pulp mainstays
peppered with some gore & creature effects, but no story- or
character-development - hell there aren't even real characters - or even
actually funny scenes.
