A divorced father (Joshua Winch) receives a visit from his young
daughter (Kenzie Pallone), but at first it seems they have rather little
to talk about ... until it's bedtime, and the kid asks her daddy to tell
her a bedtime story, something he had never thought he'd be any good at
... but with her help he creates the story of a slightly clumsy fairy
(Sheri Davis) and her teddybear sidekick who are on the search for a lost
star that would make her a proper fairy, following the lead of a ghost who
might or might not be on their side ... One thing one has to
admit, the special and visual effects in Across Stars are nothing
short of awesome, and that combined with strong visuals to begin with make
this a feat for the eyes. Unfortunately, the story to carry this isn't
strong enough to keep up with the spectacle, it's sugary sweet,
clichée-riddled and at the same time a bit flat. Now since the movie's
only 8 or so minutes long, this doesn't matter all that much, as the
film's still worth a watch, one just would love to see this kind of
visuals carrying a stronger narrative!
