You recently
released a film titled Mack Blaster. What is the plot?
Sometime in a
distant, apocalyptic future, the brutal, inhuman bounty
hunter Mack Blaster stomps through the bleak desert.
On a stonewall he discovers the “wanted
poster” of the worst women slaughterer of all time: Ringo
“The Butcher” Mack Man. Hunting down Ringo is a matter
of honor for Mack Blaster.
His way leads him
to the down-and-out capital city. A place
where death and violence rule. After Mack
Blaster slaughters the biker gang Dead Falcons in the
whorehouse La Perla he meets Ringo‘s main whore
Bianca, who also falls victim to Mack Blasters misanthropic
lunacy.
At last Mack
Blaster catches Ringo Mack Man in the backyard of
the whorehouse, but things change for the
worse. After an extensive sawed off shotgun treatment Ringo
turns out to be a bloodthirsty mutant, who by
high-frequency screams suddenly calls for dozens of creepy,
bizarre henchmen for help.
All of them only
want one thing: The head of the Blaster, but Mack Blaster
stands his ground with an arsenal of
fire-spitting, death-bringing
weapons.
Who stars in
this?
Wladimir
Meckovic, Slim Gharbi, Peter Keller, Ulli Kagerer, Mira
Sophie Walter, Marco
Bünger.
Is there a web page where
people may find out about this or order it?
We are still
working on our website, so we only have the IMDb site
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3276870/ and
our trailer at http://vimeo.com/sebastianutech/mackblastertrailer right
now.
The film was shown
at Shriekfest, correct?
Correct, we appreciate it
very much. It's our first time in Hollywood.
Do you plan to run
it at other festivals?
Definitely. We had our world premiere
at Pifan Filmfest in South Korea in July, been screened on
various US filmfestivals and much more. What we are really
missing is a premiere in Germany. It sounds crazy but we haven't
been to one German film festival yet. You know, in Germany
bloody genre movies ususally aren't produced that often
and usually aren't shown there. I really
love Germany, but the film industry there is really kind of
strange when it comes to genre cinema. That's sad and hopefully that
will change with time, so that genre directors don't
have to move to other countries no more to make the films
they love.
If you can pick the best attribute for this
project, what would it be?
I
always have a hard time complimenting my own work, but one
thing I like about it, after all these times that I've
seen it is that I still laugh from time to time about some
silly stuff in it. Those laughs were actually meant to be :D
After all is said and done now, is there
anything you would do differently about it?
You got to understand that we were
shooting with really no budget at all, only paying for
things we didn't get for free. And believe me we got a
whole lot of things for free. So me and Sebastian had to do
everything ourselves, sometimes with help from others,
sometimes not. I think it makes the charm of the movie, but
on the other hand, with a professional team, we could have
concentrated more on directing.
Do you have anything new to
follow up after this? New projects in the making?
We are
working on a couple of projects, but they are in very
early stages. My short documentay The Black
Chapel is on its festival run right now, too. Besides
that my successfull German coming-of-age novel Kaputt was just released under the title
Messed Up in the USA. So check it out.
Do
you have any interesting behind the scenes stories to tell
about the filming of Mack Blaster?
Yes
definetly. While training with the spider at home, it showed
a very chilled and friendly character, but when we actually
shot the scenes with it in the sun, it became crazy active
and aggressive. It took hours to calm it down, and finish
the scenes. Now the spider is back at its home and enjoys life. We were only
shooting on weekends because everyone in the crew had a
dayjob, so after the bloody shots Sebastian and me spend
days cleaning the sets from all the sticky fake blood. We
kind of became pros in liberating things and floors from
every kind of fake blood.
Who came
up with the title?

Actually our lead actor came up with a
similar name before the shooting. Even before the project
was planned. We liked the name so much, that it kind of
became the first step at all in the project.
The title does kind of stand out, does it not?
True.
Thats why we liked it so much. And it sticks to peoples
heads. No one can say it without smiling a little I think.
Closing comments?
Me and Sebastian
would like to thank all festivals, media and audience that
support our film Mack Blaster - The World in the Crosshairs. Only with your help we can grow and may be one
day direct a feature in the same style.
Thanks for the interview!
