Your upcoming movie A Grim Becoming - in a few words, what is it about, and what can you tell us about your character?

My character sets the tone for who Death is/has become. She helps the audience to fully understand and embrace the Death character. She has been friends with Death since the beginning of time, and as much as they disagree with each other they need each other to survive.

Playing "Life" as such ... how do you even prepare for such a role, and what did you draw upon to bring your character to life?

I really focused on the playful relationship that my character Life had with the character Death (played wonderfully by Mike Sciabarrasi [Michael Sciabarrasi interview - click here]). I built the character from that point and really just had fun with it. Mike played the character so brilliantly - it was a lot of fun working opposite him!

How did you get involved with the project in the first place?

I had heard so many great things about the director Adam Steigert's first film Ombis (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2224383/) [Adam Steigert interview - click here], so I added him on Facebook and stalked his every move. True story. Luckily for me he was familiar with my work so when he was casting next he reached out to me and I quickly accepted the role!

What can you tell us about your director Adam R. Steigert, and what was your collaboration like?

Jessica with Adam R. Steigert

Besides that I stalked him to get hired? Lets see, he's got these wonderful ideas and is such a hard worker. Hes very passionate about his projects, and very connected to those that he works with. He's definitely smarter than the average bear and really understands all aspects of the film making process. Working with Adam was great - he allows actors to really find there character and then adjusts as necessary.

What can you tell us about A Grim Becoming's brand of humour, how easy was it to adapt to it, and since we're at it, what can you tell us about your own sense of humour?

I actually love the humor in the film, its very dark which is similar to my own. It's that humor that effects you on multiple levels, really intelligent and witty. I know my horror fans are really going to appreciate it!

Do talk about the actual shoot and the on-set atmosphere for a bit!

Working on this set was like joining a HUGE, close knit family for their Christmas feast. They have a large, wonderfully talented cast and crew and everyone was so thrilled to be working, and for most of them it was their weekend! They were some of the kindest and most genuine people that I have met in a long time. Not only did I have a blast "working" but I made some lifelong friends, and people that I can not wait to work with again :)

Any future projects beyond A Grim Becoming you'd like to talk about?

Yes please! My directorial debut Truth or Dare has started its festival run and is getting a great reaction from audiences. It's a graphic, violent torture film :) I act in it too! I am so honored to have won BEST FEATURE FILM at the Arizona Underground Film Festival. I am looking forward to more screenings!
