Your upcoming movie Repulsion - in a few words, what is it about, and what can you tell us about your character in it?

Repulsion is the story of Sean B. Martin, a journalism college student who has disappeared along with his beautiful girlfriend, Rachel, somewhere in the Middle East. His desperate mother enlists the help of Michael Orwell, one of his professors to find him. And thus begins a journey into the heart of madness. Deceit, double crossings, debauchery, torture and gruesome deaths are the hallmark of life in the den of lord of terror Al Bagawi. Little does Orwell know of the horrors and surprises that await him at every turn. An exploration into the inner workings of the War on Terror and how those caught in its web struggle to find redemption, but find only Repulsion!! I play Nooreen Martin, Sean's mother, who is frantically trying to find him. She is a woman of means and status, but has hit a dead end with the goverment, so tries to convince Sean's favorite professor, Michael Orwell, to travel to Turkey to find him.

What did you draw upon to bring your character to life, and how much of Debra Lamb can we find in her?

I know what it's like to be in truly bleak situations, not knowing if you'd survive it, or if you would lose what little you had, so I was able to inject that feeling of desperation into the character.

How did you get hooked up with the project in the first place, and what attracted you to it?

I'm on a few casting websites, one of which is Casting Networks. I found the casting notice for Nooreen Martin and I submitted myself for the role. Director Louis Camacho contacted me, and based on my performance in a short film I did in March 2016 titled Cycles of Lune, he cast me for Nooreen. I was attracted to the role due to the quiet strength of the character amidst such desperate circumstances, and the lengths she's willing to go to save her son.

What can you tell us about your director Louis Camacho, and what was your collaboration like?

I have great respect and admiration for Louis, he has such a rich and colorful past. Louis teaches media production and social studies to teens at risk and is the youth and family coordinator at Mission Language Vocational School in San Francisco, a non-profit community-based education center. He loves making short films as a teaching tool and to open up a dialogue regarding the world's political issues. We have a wonderful collaboration.  I can throw him ideas and suggestions, and he'll give me suggestions--there's a nice back and forth, so that in the end we are perfectly in sync on what the vision is.

As far as I know, Repulsion's still shooting - so what can you tell us about the shoot so far, and the on-set atmosphere?

I'm really enjoying the collaborative and laid back atmosphere on set. Of course we're all working under a certain amount of pressure due to having the locations for a set amount of time, but everyone works so well together, and there is great communication among the cast and crew.

Even though it might be way too early to ask, any idea when and where the film might be released onto the general public yet?

Louis is planning on having the film completed by October, 2016. Repulsion will initially be screened locally and then will be submitted to several film festivals.

Any future projects beyond Repulsion you'd like to share?

I'm currently working on a CGI comedy/martial arts short film called Cave of Darkness. I play Queen Chaos, and since this film is going to be completely CGI, we are shooting the scenes with tracking dots all over our bodies so the CGI artists can create our characters. I'm going to be some kind of hideous creature! We will go into the studio to do our voice overs in a few months and we will have tracking dots applied to our faces, and then the CGI artists will complete our characters' faces. I have a few other projects in the works that I can't talk about yet--sshhh.
